Family sessions fall under a bunch of adjectives for us. Crazy, silly, fun, chaotic and sometimes stressful. Seems like stressful doesn’t belong, right?
Well, I’ve got a confession to make. Sometimes, we enter these sessions with visions of the entire session going off without a hitch and effortlessly capturing the perfect family photo. You know the one! Everyone bright eyed, perfectly smiling at the camera at the same exact moment, yet still looking candid. Well, it turns out, that as many times as we’ve learned it, we just as quickly forget that that is a hard shot to capture! Every family dynamic is so different and I’m sure that most of you reading this know it’s very hard to keep young children still for more than a milli-second, let alone looking at a camera and smiling in that time frame!
What we’ve also come to realize and accept is that is a perceived idea of a perfect family photo. We’ll always aim to capture it but prefer our family photos to be filled with the love, happiness and emotion that comes from real moments. Real moments and real memories that bond a family together. If we can walk away from a session knowing we captured love, happiness and emotion, than we’ve done our job. So tonight’s sneak peek won’t be of the perfectly posed family (which we got shortly after this shot) but of the one that makes this photographer’s heart pitter patter.
Here’s just a peek of the Davey family! Their two little loves are 3 and 5 years old and we had so much fun playing lots of games!
